Fringe Street Events

Street Events are the easiest way to feel the festival without buying a ticket - but they still need a plan. Schedules are drawn daily from 10:00, so treat them as a flexible part of the day rather than a fixed itinerary.

Where it happens

High Street / Royal Mile

From Cockburn Street to George IV Bridge

The main stretch - buskers, living statues, street theatre and walkabout acts. Busiest around midday.

Hunter Square

Just off the High Street

A pitch area with its own schedule board, a short step from the Royal Mile crowds.

The Mound Precinct

Off Princes Street, between the New Town and the Old Town

Larger performance space and the home of the daily finale at 17:15.

Plan it well

  • Treat Street Events as a flexible stop, not an all-day base - they are busy and weather-exposed.
  • Bring cash even if some performers accept card; the shows run on audience donations.
  • If crowds drain you, plan an exit route before entering the busiest stretches of the Royal Mile.
  • Families should agree a meeting point and a lost-child plan before joining the crowd.
  • Schedules are drawn from 10:00 daily, so check the boards at each pitch rather than planning a fixed running order.
