7-31 August 2026
When to go
There is no single best time to visit - it depends on the energy you want and how much accommodation pressure you can take. Here is how the windows compare.
| Window | Best for |
|---|---|
| Opening weekend | First-night energy and launch buzz - busy and high-spirited. |
| Week one / midweek | More manageable for accommodation and a calmer schedule. |
| Final weekend | Awards and word-of-mouth energy - but some shows finish or sell out. |
| Full week | Depth without rushing; time to follow recommendations. |
| Full festival | Industry, media and serious arts travellers. |
| One or two days | Focus on one zone and a realistic show count. |
A note on the living programme
The 2026 programme launched on 4 June, but it is not fixed the way a curated festival might be. Shows keep registering into and during the festival, so treat the official website and app as your current sources whenever you go.
Confirm the latest programme status and any date-specific events on edfringe.com before booking travel.
